Composer Ryan Truesdell did a fantastic transcription of this classic Gil chart, which features Cannonball Adderley on alto. This is some hip st*t–great changes, voicings, groove, just the right space for the soloist. Gil is the master of “point of view” arranging (just thought of that)–you really can see where he’s “at”…make sense? An arranger always faces the challenge of finding something interesting to do, especially when the tune is a straight-ahead blues.
